Taking advantage of the unique topographical conditions provided by the sand dunes in the Kalahari, potential is created to “cut into” the dunes and nestle the lodge within the dune mound. By gently “lifting” the landscape and inserting the architecture into a subterranean pocket will allow the intervention to be concealed from its approach. This concept also allows the intervention to seemingly disappear into its context without becoming a bold statement in the sparse natural landscape of the Kalahari desert
